Province Commits $75,000 to Preserve Habitat of the Cheticamp River

The provincial government announced a $75,000 investment from the Sustainable Communities Challenge Fund to protect and enhance the habitat of the Cheticamp River.

With this funding, the Cheticamp River Salmon Association is set to improve the cold-water habitats Atlantic salmon require and make it easier for fish to move through the river. Extreme weather events in recent years have led to barriers threatening the salmon population.
