Province expands List of Symptoms for Screening for COVID-19

Provincial Health and Wellness officials have identified two new cases of COVID-19. Both are in the Nova Scotia Health Authority’s Central Zone one was a resident of the Northwood Seniors Home in Halifax; the other a staff member at the facility. That raises the number of confirmed cases of the virus to 1,048.

There are two licensed long-term care homes and unlicensed seniors’ facilities in the province

with active cases of COVID-19. Northwood in Halifax has 16 residents and four staff with active cases. One other facility has one resident with an active case.

The province has also announced the list of symptoms being screened for COVID-19 is expanding. The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Stang says the expanded list is being adopted by all provinces and territories and based on a growing knowledge of how COVID-19 can present.
