Province Extends Virtual Care for Doctors to Connect with Their Patients

Dec 10, 2020 | Local News

The province will allow virtual visits with your family doctor into the new year.

The province’s Health and Wellness Department has announced it is extending access to virtual care for doctors to connect with their patients. Physicians’ payment codes for virtual visits will be available until the end of March. Virtual care options include doctors connecting with their patients via telephone and videoconferencing.

The department’s minister Leo Glavine says access to virtual care has become increasingly important to patients and doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Glavine says extending virtual care maintains access to these options while allowing the province to finalize a longer-term approach.

More than 1.2 million services were provided virtually by doctors in Nova Scotia between March first and December first.
