lifted, the Province’s chief medical health officer said it is too early for a definitive response.

The province lifted the first set of health restrictions at the start of May, when Dr. Robert Strang saying at the time it would likely be a 28 day period before the province takes a further step in that direction. When asked today if he sees any reason why the next phase would not start at the end of May, Strang said we’re in that time frame of end of may-early June but they will continue to look at the epidemiology and also work on the plans.

will be events that bring large numbers of people together in close proximity, be it sporting or cultural events.  The province reported three more deaths in the Nova Scotia, bringing the total to 51.  The deaths occurred at the Northwood long-term care home in Halifax.  Four new cases of COVID-19 were also identified.

Premier Stephen McNeil said he received a lot of questions and concerns about when the government will open up the province’s economy. McNeil said the province’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Robert Strang is still in the midst of consultations with businesses, labour unions, and associations. Those groups, he said, are then expected to meet with their members to figure out when they can operate under the public health protocols.  When the consultations are finished and Strang sees good results in flattening the curve, Strang will share the results and his comfort level in reopening the economy with the government.

While other provinces are opening up, McNeil said Nova Scotia is amongst the last but it was also one of the last province’s to receive covid 19. He said it’s not a competition or race. McNeil said he wants to be sure Strang is confident in the science and he wants residents to be confident when the province opens up.
