Northwood long-term care home in Halifax Regional Municipality, raising the number of deaths at the facility this weekend to eight.

Premier Stephen McNeil says six more families are mourning the loss of a loved one and expressed his condolences. He’s asking all Nova Scotians to help keep COVID-19 out of the province’s long-term care homes and communities by continuing to follow the public health directives to help stop the spread of the virus.

Eight new cases of COVID-19 were identified. One of the new infections is in the Nova Scotia Health Authority’s Northern Zone, which includes Pictou County, the rest are in the NSHA’s Central Zone. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the province so far is 971. Of that number, 624 have recovered from the virus. Six are in hospital, three in intensive care.
