Purlbrook DKI has unveiled the addition of 4 new accessible parking spaces on a concrete slab

New accessible parking spaces at Pomquet Beach Provincial Park
to allow for further accessibility to Pomquet Beach Provincial Park. These new additions are complimented by the work done to the boardwalk by the Department of Lands and Forestry.
Over the past few years, the Municipality of the County of Antigonish has worked in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forestry to create a more accessible boardwalk, install accessible washrooms, change rooms and picnic tables, install Mobi Mats and to have a Mobi Chair available at Pomquet Beach.
Antigonish County Deputy Warden Hughie Stewart took special notice when Recreation Director Marlene Melanson proposed to have Pomquet Beach Provincial Park made more accessible. Deputy Warden Hughie Stewart and his wife Debbie own Purlbrook DKI.
Derek Geldart, Area Manager for the Department of Lands and Forestry thanked the Stewarts and DKI for their generous donation and said the Department is looking at other beaches in the area to make enhancements to and hope to keep moving forward.
The Municipality received tremendous feedback regarding the enhancements at Pomquet Beach and would like to thank everyone who has made them possible.
