RCMP in Pictou County Arrest Woman on Assault Charges, Seek Another Man in the Case

Pictou County RCMP have arrested a 34-year-old Trenton woman on a number of charges including assault with a weapon and flight from police. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver.

Shortly after midnight Friday morning, RCMP were called to a report of a man being assaulted by several people in the Sylvester area. Officers found a 34-year-old man with what appeared to be serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the man was assaulted with baseball bats and a taser. He was transported to hospital.

Later, police located a car believed to be suspects in the case and attempted to stop the vehicle but refused to stop. The car later went off the road. The car was struck and two people fled on foot. RCMP say the passenger was arrested, but the driver ran into the woods. A baseball bat and taser were seized from the car.

Police say the passenger, a 34-year-old woman from Trenton was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, and Prohibited Weapon in a Motor Vehicle. The woman has been released from custody and is to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on September 14th.
