RCMP in Pictou County Charge Truro man on Vehicle theft and Break and Enter Charges

Pictou District RCMP says a Truro man is facing a number of charges including vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and flight from police.

RCMP say around 11 o’clock Thursday night, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Salt Springs. A caller told police they thought the car had been stolen earlier in the day from the Pictou area.

RCMP say officers located the car on patrol and attempted to pull it over. However the driver fled from police, but was located a short time later in the Loch Broom area. The driver, a 36-year-old Truro man was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Flight from Police.

A short time later, Pictou RCMP were called to a report of a break and enter in Westville where several items were stolen. RCMP allege all the stolen property from the break and enter were found in the stolen car from earlier. The man was also charged of break and enter and possession of stolen property in connect with the theft from the house.

RCMP allege there was also an arrest warrant for the man from the Truro area in connection with 16 outstanding charges and breach of court-imposed release conditions. The man is being held in custody and will appear in court at a later date.
