RCMP Urges Motorists to be Mindful of Additional Pedestrian Traffic as Students Return to School This Week

Sep 4, 2024 | Local News

With students returning to school this week, RCMP are reminding motorists of the extra activity happening on or near roads.

Constable Christine Pelly with the Antigonish RCMP said kids will be heading to schools on foot, bus, and bike, so drivers are reminded to keep that in mind. Pelly also reminded drivers about the rules regarding schools busses and when drivers should stop.

Constable Pelly asked residents to be cognizant of the changes to the area, pointing to the new walking areas in the town and more people using active transportation on the commute to work, adding they hope everyone is careful about their surroundings.

Canadian Radio Awards: 989 XFM Small Market Station of The Year

Broadcast Dialogue has announced the winners of the inaugural Canadian Radio Awards, which we’ve dubbed “The Howards” after our publisher emeritus Howard Christensen.

When Howard, a radio veteran and one of the original Broadcast News anchors, founded Broadcast Dialogue in 1992, he saw a need for both timely delivery of Canadian broadcast industry news, but also recognized the importance of creating a sense of community.

989 XFM is very proud to be the winner of the 2020 Station of Year – Small Market award.
