A well-known local municipal leader has now set her sights on provincial politics.
Richmond County Deputy Warden Amanda Mombourquette has announced her candidacy for the leadership of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party.

When asked why she has decided to run, Mombourquette says making the jump to provincial politics is something she has been considering for a long time, including talking to different leaders over the years. Mombourquette says the timing is right to make that move.
Mombourquette says there’s a big job ahead for the party. She says the path forward is to work with all 56 electoral district associations, strengthen them, and attract strong candidates. Mombourquette says that means showing up in communities, listening to their concerns and what they need, and taking action. Mombourquette hit the ground running on her leadership bid, beginning her day in Digby today.
Nova Scotia Liberals will choose their new leader in November.
