Richmond County wants to talk to other municipalities about the state of cell phone service.
In response to a letter from Antigonish County Warden Nicolas MacInnis to Premier Tim Houston about declining cellular phone service in Antigonish County, Richmond Municipal Council decided at last night’s meeting in Arichat to have Warden Lois Landry and CAO Troy MacCulloch contact neighbouring towns and municipalities about deteriorating cell service.
In recent weeks, Port Hawkesbury Town Council talked about the issue, along with Richmond which took on the problem months ago, including talks with Cape Breton-Canso-Antigonish MP Jaime Battiste.

During the Jan. 13 Committee-of-the-Whole, District 3 Councillor Brian Marchand said residents are getting landlines re-installed in their homes in response to issues with cell service.
During the same meeting District 5 Councillor Brent Sampson said the problem is widespread across the municipality.
The warden said this is a serious problem that is getting worse, and telecommunication providers need to listen to these concerns.
