new council at the Wellness Centre, Parker was chosen by his fellow councillors over other nominee Andy Thompson.
Parker says the priority for council is the building of a county-wide high-speed internet network.
Parker says council will also be working on streaming meetings online, continuing to develop a recreation strategy, working with the Regional Economic Network to grow the economy, and ensuring adequate funding for county fire departments.
Also at the meeting, Wayne Murray was acclaimed as Deputy Warden for an additional term, and the lists of committee members were drawn up. Those lists will soon be posted on Pictou County’s website.
