Stellarton will be playing host to a very special guest this weekend. The town has announced 
that starting at about 11 Saturday morning, the Stellarton Fire Department will be escorting Santa Claus through the community.
Town officials say although it seems like an odd time for Santa to visit, they’ve been told he takes COVID-19 prevention seriously and wants to make sure everyone is following the rules.
The route will travel directly into neighbourhoods of residents, so people don’t have to leave their homes, and can enjoy the visit of Santa from their yards or windows.
Mayor Danny MacGillivray says the town wanted to find a way to safely give residents something to look forward to and to show it’s thinking of them during these challenging times. If you are outdoors ensure you are 6 feet or 2 metres from anyone not in your family bubble and practice good hygiene like washing your hands and not touching your face.
