With April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, officials with the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program are letting people know about their work.

The program is based out of the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre and Sexual Assault Services Association. Kyla Neary Griffiths, a nurse with SANE, said they serve Antigonish, Guysborough, Richmond, and Inverness counties as well as New Glasgow. She added they are available to survivors of a sexual assault in the last seven days, adding the program offers confidential trauma-informed care.

Anyone looking to reach out to SANE can do so by calling 1-877-880-SANE (7263), 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They have a team of 15 nurse examiners who can travel based on needs.

The program was funded by the Department of Health in 2006, with the first case taking place in 2007.

Canadian Radio Awards: 989 XFM Small Market Station of The Year

Broadcast Dialogue has announced the winners of the inaugural Canadian Radio Awards, which we’ve dubbed “The Howards” after our publisher emeritus Howard Christensen.

When Howard, a radio veteran and one of the original Broadcast News anchors, founded Broadcast Dialogue in 1992, he saw a need for both timely delivery of Canadian broadcast industry news, but also recognized the importance of creating a sense of community.

989 XFM is very proud to be the winner of the 2020 Station of Year – Small Market award.
