NATIONAL SPORTS

The N-H-L and the N-H-L Players’ Association have settled on a framework for the upcoming season, pending the approval of each side’s executive board and Canadian health officials. N-H-L deputy commissioner Bill Daly confirmed that the two sides have a tentative deal that will include a 56-game schedule for the 2020-21 campaign, with puck drop for the regular season set for January 13th if approved by all parties.


Kyle Lowry scored 25 points in the Raptors’ 117-105 pre-season loss to the Miami Heat. In his first action this season, Lowry shot 6-for-10 from behind the arc in 27 minutes of floor time. The Raptors debuted their temporary home court at Amalie Arena, normally home to the N-H-L’s Tampa Bay Lightning, but also Toronto’s home away from home, for now.


The Denver Broncos cancelled their walk through ahead of their game today against the Buffalo Bills after strength and conditioning coach Loren Landow tested positive for the COVID-19. Landow is the fourth assistant coach on the Broncos staff to test positive for the virus this season.


The Victorian state government has confirmed that all players at the Australian Open will be required to quarantine in Melbourne for 14 days before the delayed start of the first Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year. The Australian Open is scheduled to run from February 8th to 21st.
