Rural League: Last night at the Antigonish Arena: St Croix edged out Heatherton 6-5, then in the second game the Outlaws trounced Pleasantdale 10-1.


Seniors League: The Antigonish Bulldogs host the Pictou County Pipers at the Arena. Puck drops at 7:30.


U16 AAA: The Cabot Highlanders are in the Valley to face off with the Wildcats at 2 pm.


NATIONAL SPORTS

John Klingberg and William Eklund each scored their ninth goals of the season, Macklin Celebrini had a goal and assist, and the visiting San Jose Sharks recorded a 6-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks. Ryan Reaves, Igor Chernyshov and Collin Graf also scored for the Sharks, who snapped a three-game losing skid. Linus Karlsson, Marco Rossi and Drew O’Connor replied for the Canucks. Conor Garland and Filip Hronek each had two assists for the Canucks, who have lost two straight.


Ryan Lomberg’s goal at 3:28 of the second period snapped a 1-1 stalemate and lifted the Calgary Flames to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oilers. Yegor Sharangovich and Blake Coleman also scored for the Flames, who have won three of their last four. Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid replied for the Oilers, who had their modest two-game win streak halted.


Michael Hage scored a power-play goal 44 seconds into overtime as Canada edged Latvia 2-1 at the world junior hockey championship in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Canada leads Group B with a win and an overtime win for five points and will play winless Denmark on Monday. In other games Saturday, Czechia rolled past Denmark 7-2, the two-time defending champion U-S squeezed past Switzerland 2-1, and Slovakia beat Germany 4-1.


Derrick Henry rushed for a season-high 216 yards and matched a career high with four touchdown runs as the visiting Baltimore Ravens kept their playoff hopes alive by beating the Green Bay Packers 41-24. Henry’s seventh career 200-yard rushing game moved him ahead of Adrian Peterson and O-J Simpson for the most in N-F-L history. The 8-and-8 Ravens now must hope the A-F-C North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers lose at Cleveland today. The Packers lost their third straight, but had already clinched a post-season berth.


Lauri Markkanen had 29 points and five rebounds, Keyonte George had 28 points and six assists, and the visiting Utah Jazz upset the San Antonio Spurs 127-114. Victor Wembanyama had 32 points and seven rebounds for the Spurs, who had their eight-game win streak halted. Keldon Johnson added 27 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs.


Karl-Anthony Towns had 36 points and 15 rebounds, Jalen Brunson had 34 points and five assists, and the visiting New York Knicks edged the Atlanta Hawks 128-125. Onyeka Okongwu had 31 points and 14 assists for the Hawks, who lost their sixth straight game. Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 25 points for the hosts.
