Mark Stone extended his points streak to 14 games with two goals and an assist as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3. The game was Mitch Marner’s first in Toronto since agreeing to an off-season sign-and-trade deal with the Golden Knights. Predictably, Marner received a loud, frosty reception from the home crowd.
Hendrix Lapierre scored his first goal in 91 games in the Washington Capitals’ 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames. Washington snapped a four-game losing streak. Elsewhere, the New Jersey Devils edged the Vancouver Canucks 5-4.
The Toronto Raptors have won three straight after a 110-98 road victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. Toronto dominated the contest despite being outscored from the three-point line 39-27 and losing the turnover battle 16-13. Portland had its four-game win streak snapped.
An impressive start for Manitoba’s Kaitlyn Lawes at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Manitoba scored three in the first end en route to a 10-4 win over B-C’s Taylor Reese-Hansen in Mississauga, Ontario. Canada’s Kerri Einarson also won her first match, 13-4 over Yukon’s Bayly Scoffin.
Good news for C-F-L players – the league’s salary cap has increased to over 6-point-2 (m) million dollars in 2026. This comes after revenue for the league reached 10 (m) million dollars more than the baseline established in 2024.
The B-C Lions have released veteran linebacker Micah Awe (MY’-kuh AW). He posted a league-high 144 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble last season. But Awe’s future with the Lions became cloudy when they signed veteran free-agent linebacker Darnell Sankey.
