Dartmouth’s Nicholas Naugle raced to his first win of the season in the Nova Truck Centres 150 in support of Special Olympics Nova Scotia. Naugle had to fend off reigning Pro Stock Tour champion Ashton Tucker, who settled for second. Dylan Blenkhorn made a strong statement in his return to the Series with a third-place finish. Austin MacDonald of Pictou finished eighth, while Ryan vanOirschot was tenth.

Deniz Undav scored twice after being subbed-on in the second half, as Germany defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 at the World Cup. Saturday’s victory in Toronto clinched a spot in the knockout phase for the Germans. Four minutes into stoppage time, Undav received a pass from Felix Nmecha in front of the net and rifled it past Ivory Coast goalkeeper Yahia Fofana to give the Germans a comeback win.
Curacao earned its first-ever World Cup point with a scoreless draw against Ecuador, thanks to a historic goalkeeping performance by Eloy Room. Room made 15 saves, the most ever in a World Cup match without extra time and just one short of the overall tournament record set by Tim Howard in 2014. The result helped Germany clinch Group E after its earlier victory over Ivory Coast. While neither team was eliminated, the draw leaves Ecuador needing a strong result against Germany in its final group-stage match to improve its chances of advancing.
Daulton Varsho and Kazuma Okamoto each had a home run and three R-B-Is as the visiting Toronto Blue Jays rallied from a 5-0 deficit after six innings to an 8-6 win over the Chicago Cubs. The Jays used five pitchers, including Jeff Hoffman, who got the win and Louis Varland, who earned his 15th save. The Jays lost Friday’s opener at Wrigley Field 16-2.
Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper delivered impressive hitting performances in the Philadelphia Phillies’ 15-3 win over the visiting New York Mets. Schwarber slugged two long home runs in the Phillies’ eight-run third inning. Harper became the 11th player in franchise history to hit for the cycle. He hit a solo home run in the first, doubled in the third, singled after Schwarber’s second home run, and completed the cycle with a two-run triple in the fifth inning.
Two of the three C-F-L games played needed overtime to determine a winner. Quarterback Cody Fajardo ran for six yards into the end zone to give the Edmonton Elks a 32-29 overtime win over the visiting Montreal Alouettes, while Tommy Stevens dove headfirst into the end zone in overtime to give the visiting Saskatchewan Roughriders a 40-37 win over the Calgary Stampeders. In the early game, the Toronto Argonauts blitzed the host Ottawa Redblacks 44-24.
Rhyne Howard scored 24 points, Allisha Gray had 22 points and five rebounds, and the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Dream won their third in a row with a 113-96 W-N-B-A victory over the visiting Indiana Fever. Caitlin Clark led the visitors with 26 points and seven assists, while Kelsey Mitchell scored 16 points.
