At Riverside Speedway, Nicholas Naugle picked up his second consecutive Pro Stock Tour victory after taking the lead on a late-race restart. With the win, Naugle becomes the first two-time winner of the Series this season. Robbie MacEwen appeared poised to capture the win after leading the most laps, but settled for second at the checkered flag. Jarrett Butcher held off a hard-charging Ashton Tucker in the closing laps to secure third, while the reigning Tour champion finished fourth. Austin MacDonald of Pictou was also in the mix during the closing laps, battling with Butcher and Tucker before rounding out the top five. Donald Chisholm finished in seventh place, while Ryan VanOirschot was twelfth. Cole Butcher had to retire from the race early due to mechanical issues.

The World Cup is down to 32 teams, with the knockout stage starting today in Los Angeles with Canada playing South Africa. Portugal will play Croatia in Toronto on Thursday, while Switzerland will meet Algeria in Vancouver, also on Thursday. Defending champion Argentina will play Cape Verde on Friday in Miami.
Congo has advanced to the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time by rallying to a 3-1 win against Uzbekistan. The African nation was playing in soccer’s biggest tournament for only the second time in its history after a 52-year absence. Two second-half goals from Yoane Wissa helped Congo join Cape Verde as another surprise qualifier for the round of 32. Nine of the 10 African countries that qualified for the tournament have advanced to the knockout round.
Corey Seager hit a solo home run, Jake Burger had three hits and drove in two runs, and the visiting Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4. Yohendrick Piñango hit a two-run homer, and Alejandro Kirk added a solo shot, but the Blue Jays lost their fifth straight. Toronto’s star hitters, Vladimir Guerrero Junior, Daulton Varsho and Kazuma Okamoto, went 0-for-13 with 7 strikeouts.
Vernon Adams Junior and the Calgary Stampeders played spoiler in front of a capacity crowd at Kelowna, B-C’s, Apple Bowl, prevailing 41-33 over the B-C Lions for their first win of the C-F-L season. Adams Junior delivered three touchdown passes to defeat his former team. The Stamps improved to 2-and-1 after getting touchdowns from five different players. The Lions fell to 0-and-3.
Kelsey Mitchell scored 26 points, Aliyah Boston had 17 points and seven rebounds, and the Indiana Fever beat the visiting Los Angeles Sparks 111-87 in W-N-B-A action. Nneka Ogwumike led the Sparks with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Dearica Hamby had 15 points and four rebounds. Elsewhere, Flau’jae Johnson had 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Seattle Storm upset the visiting Atlanta Dream 105-90.
