The head of Athletics at StFX says the department is disappointed with the actions of some of

Amelia Saputo Centre on St. FX Campus

his charges.

Over the weekend, a number of student athletes attended a party on Highland Drive where the crowd exceeded the limit mandated by public health. Upon learning of the situation, the athletic department issued a two week suspension of practice and training privileges for all varsity sports. The suspension ends on October 19.

Leo MacPherson, StFX Athletics director, said he is disappointed  with the actions of the student athletes involved, whom he said came from a number of teams. MacPherson says X has a great bunch of student athletes but many of them made a poor decision in attending the party.

MacPherson said it’s hoped the time off will give the student athletes time to reflect on their actions, noting this sort of high risk behaviour isn’t acceptable. He said the university is also investigating the event.
