Pictou Lobster Carnival Cancelled

Apr 23, 2020 | Local News

The Pictou Lobster Carnival has been cancelled. Organizers say the event, which is normally held in July, has been shelved because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carnival officials say they based their decision on comments by the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang that restrictions on public gatherings and physical distancing protocols could last into July.

The carnival has operated continuously since 1934, except during global conflicts. Chair Shawn McNamara says we are at war again, and we will win. He says the carnival will be bigger and better next year.
