students dealing with food security issues. The Food Security Fund from 21 will help students in need by offering grocery store gift cards, coupons for taxis to pick up the groceries, and meal hall tickets.

Senior class development officer Thea Hart said the fund came about after a reach out from the financial aid office stating they had limited resources for immediate support for students while also seeing an increase of students looking for help.  In a release from the university, Senior class co-presidents Allison Hancock and Sean De van der schueren and Hart stated will help students with their immediate needs.

The fund will also help students who are struggling in future years.

During the Senior Class Poutine Bar in early November they asked senior students for ideas on the project. Based on the responses, they moved forward with the food security fund.

The J&W Murphy Foundation, located outside of Halifax, contributed $4,500 to the fund while the StFX store will offer proceeds of X Ring Sales. StFX Chancellor John Peacock pledged to match every dollar donated by students to a maximum of $5,000.
