provide direction on how to deploy COVID-19 tests, vaccines and other interventions.

Dr. James Hughes says given a constrained mitigation strategy, such as a limited number of COVID-19 vaccines that are available, the project looks at how best to apply these vaccines to a population to minimize spread.

He is collaborating with two other researchers on this project. Dr. Daniel Ashlock with the University of Guelph and Dr. Sheridan Houghten of Brock University.

Hughes hopes to have a first rough model of their work complete in about a month.

Hughes has received $42,000 in funding for the project from the Nova Scotia COVID-19 Health Research Coalition, which includes the Nova Scotia Health Authority, the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation, the IWK Health Centre and its Foundation, the QE11 Health Sciences Foundation, and Research Nova Scotia.
