St. FX University planning a Number of Events for Students Over Thanksgiving

Oct 9, 2020 | Local News

StFX University is encouraging students to limit travel plans over the holiday weekend and stay in Antigonish if possible. In a post from last week, the university states limiting travel plans reduces the risk of contracting and spreading covid 19.

To that end, the university has a string of events planned over the long weekend, including movie marathons, a day of outdoor activity on Saturday at Keppoch with transportation provided and a Thanksgiving meal planned for Monday. There is also a Friendsgiving event on Sunday featuring a vegetarian international style dinner and a virtual conversation one of StFX’s Service Learning partners in Peru to discuss poverty relief work with Indigenous communities in the Andes mountains, and a virtual fun run.

StFX’s VP of students, Elizabeth Yeo, said everyone made a commitment to restrict non-essential travel and be committed to maintaining healthy behaviours if they do travel.

Yeo said X is proud of and grateful for the students who continue to chose to lead a low risk lifestyle in the community.
