Mar 23, 2020 | Local News

Now that the province has declared a State of Emergency, the Town of Stellarton has adjusted its COVID-19 protocols.

Public Works staff will be split into two crews, operating on alternate work weeks to reduce exposure. Public Works staff will not be interacting with the public unless proper social distancing measures are possible. Staff will not be entering private dwellings. Town staff will be conducting extensive cleaning and disinfecting to Public Works areas, and town vehicles will also receive increased cleaning.

Town Hall will operate with reduced staff and reduced hours. It remains closed to the public. Town Hall hours will now be from 10 am to 2 p.m. There will be one administrative staff member in Town Hall Monday to Friday. In person bill payments will not be accepted. Residents are encouraged to use online banking. Calls can also be made to Town Hall at (902) 752-2114 or outside office hours at (902) 752-6160.

Police will also be increasing their use of personal protective equipment when responding to emergency calls, including wearing face masks and disposable gloves to calls. The Town will also continue to post and share updates from the province and the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness as they are available.
