Another local event this summer has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest to be shelved is Stellarton Homecoming, scheduled for July 22nd to 26th.
In a release, the Town of Stellarton says the decision to cancel was made after considering a number of factors. They include the nature of the virus and the provincial restrictions surrounding the pandemic, uncertainty about when the restrictions can and will be lifted, and challenges being faced by individuals and local businesses.
The town noted Homecoming is a staple in its community, offering a safe space to bring together friends and families to celebrate the history and love of Stellarton. The town adds it’s a special week for many people, and while they would love to celebrate with everyone, it’s top priority is always the health and safety of the community.
