Last week, the Town of Stellarton took part in Local Government Awareness Week from November 17th to the 23rd. During the week, the town offered trivia on its Facebook page and daily “Did You Know?” videos about the town on YouTube.
The big event for the week was a mock town council meeting on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Grade 4 students from GR Saunders Elementary sitting in. Stellarton Mayor Danny MacGillivray called the meeting the highlight of the week.
MacGillivray said it`s important to let people know about municipal politics as it affects people`s daily lives, adding it`s also good to let residents know the extent of the work done by local government.
