The province’s Public Transit Assistance Program offered funding to municipalities and community organizations , including three in the local area.
A release from Nova Scotia Public works states to $925,000 from the Public Transit Assistance Program went to six municipalities and community organizations operating a fixed-route service to help buy vehicles, bus terminals, shelters and other capital assets.

The Antigonish Community Transit Society is getting $25,000 , Pictou County Transit Authority received $25,000 , and the Strait Area Transit Co-operative is getting $50,000.
