Strait Regional Centre for Education has cancelled classes at its Schools on Seven Days because of Weather in the 2025-26 Academic Year

Jan 29, 2026 | Local News

So far in the 2025-26 academic year, The Strait Regional Centre for Education cancelled  classes at all schools because of weather on seven days, three in December and four in January. Some schools closed outside of those days due to weather in their specific geographic region.

An email from the SRCE stated they cancelled classes at all schools for five days in the 2024-2025 school year.

The email states weather conditions this winter have been challenging, adding the SRCE is hoping the weather will improve but realize there is still about two and half winter months remaining.

In a statement, Paul Landry, Regional Executive Director for the SRCE noted they recognize guardians are concerned when children miss class time, adding this is why the decision to delay or cancel classes or bus service is not made lightly and is made with the safety of students and staff as the top priority.
