With a budget introduced before the Provincial Election, Liberal Premier Stephen McNeil announced the government will go ahead with the budget created by Finance Minister Randy Delorey. The budget had some tax cuts, spending towards a pre-primary program and some money towards health care.
Pictou East MLA Tim Houston says he was weary when the budget was initially introduced before the election, thinking the Liberals didn’t want the PC or NDP parties to investigate the details. Houston says he looks forward to investigating the finer details with Delorey’s budget:
The tabled budget had 10.6 billion dollars in revenure with 10.5 billion in expenses. Houston says he will pour over the budget and look for areas where health care dollars are being spent, and determine if it is enough to address the provincial health care crisis.
