Two projects vying for support with the Aviva Community Fund

Several local projects are in the running for the Aviva Community Fund.

The St. Mary’s River Association is entered in the Small Ideas category, for projects up to 10-thousand dollars. The association is looking to develop an on-site communal gathering area with handicap access and a capacity for 20 to 30 people. The primary objective is having an outdoor year-round seating area where conversation, discussions or presentations can occur, or quiet time in a natural setting. It would located adjacent to the Interpretive Centre.

Also entered is the Inverness Community Leadership Centre, entered under the Big Ideas category for projects of up to 100-thousand dollars. The money would be used towards developing phase two of the centre, a 10-thousand square foot addition. Half the space would be a social enterprise for adults who live with intellectual or other disabilities, and mental health challenges. The other half of the expansion would be dedicated to young children, including regulated childcare, currently not available in the community. Voting closes Thursday.
