A B.C native suiting up for the Xmen hockey team in the fall is the university’s newest Danny Gallivan Memorial Scholarship recipient. Head coach Brad Peddle says Matthew Needham deserves it. Meanwhile, Peddle takes a moment to say it’s an honour to have a connection with Gallivan, a Sydney native and radio and television personality who became known as “the voice of the Montreal Canadiens.”
The Danny Gallivan Memorial Scholarship was established in 1992 to honor the StFX alumnus. It’s awarded to Canadian male and female varsity athletes who combine qualities of leadership with academic excellence.
