Friends of the Antigonish Library

The monthly fundraising campaign by the Friends of the Antigonish Library has wrapped up, and widely exceeded expectations. The group was hoping to reach a goal of 7,500 dollars, but their monthly total reached almost ten thousand dollars instead.

Sarah Armstrong is chair for the Friends of the Antigonish Library. She is pleased to see the community support for the library, which will result in more books becoming available to patrons:

Coming up in the first weekend in June is a Giant Book Sale being put on by FOAL and the St. Martha’s Hospital Auxiliary. Armstrong is encouraging residents to donate books for the event, of which funds raised will be split between the two groups.

Friends of the Antigonish Library are asking for your support.  The group’s vice chair, Len PD Mac Donald, says libraries near and far are struggling.   He says they are embarking on a modest campaign to provide a financial boost for the award winning People’s Place Library in Downtown Antigonish.
Friends of the Antigonish Library are trying to raise about 75 hundred dollars for a number of necessary purchases such as: audio and large print books, equipment and furnishings just to name a few.
