A good start to the arm wrestling season for Antigonish native Garry Kell.  Kell finished third in a meet in Truro over the weekend for right hand in the 155 to 176 pound class.  It was his first meet since the national championship in Halifax last summer where he won gold in the under 75 kilo disabled men’s division for left and right arm.

Antigonish native Garry Kell is busy with another season competing in arm wrestling.  Kell’s coming off a successful year in the sport, winning the national championship in Halifax in the under 75 kilo disabled men’s division for left and right arm.    He also placed second in another class.  He’s won five national titles in

Kell says he started competing in arm wrestling in 1992.
Kell plans to take in 5 or 6 competitions in the province over the next few months, including Truro this weekend.  He hopes to defend his title at the nationals next year in Quebec City.

Antigonish native Garry Kell has returned home a national arm wrestling champion.  Kell travelled to Halifax for the National Championships over the weekend, capturing top honours in the under 75 kilo disabled men’s for left and right arm.
It’s the fifth time Kell has claimed a national title.

Kell also posted a second place finish at the championships in another class.  Kell says he’s been preparing for the championship for quite a while.
Kell won his first national title in 1999.

An Antigonish local will be heading to Halifax this weekend to take part in a National arm wrestling competition. Garry Kell, is a 4 time Canadian champ with both his right and left arm.
Garry says it would mean a lot to win the championship in his home province:
