A former Xmen soccer star is coming home to Canada. Professional Finnish club FF Jaro recently announced that Jamar Dixon has signed with the Ottawa Fury of the North American Soccer League. The Ottawa native says it’s a dream come true to play for his home town — especially during this important time as soccer becomes more and more popular in Canada.
The 27 year old, who played four season for the Xmen from 2008 to 2011, was called up earlier this year to represent Canada as part of the 23-man roster for the national team in a game against the USA. Dixon says hopes his journey will inspire young players in Canada to chase their dreams — but he adds, he always tells them, you must work hard and always listen to your coaches and mentors along the way.
