St. FX University’s Service Learning program is getting a financial boost from the province. Government will provide 65-thousand dollars in funding over the next two years. Service Learning Program Manager Megan Turner says with the additional support, it hopes to expand the course-based offerings in the fields of Health and Sciences to compliment the new Bachelor of Health Studies program.
Turner says the course-based Service Learning program has more than 100 community based partners, as well as national and international placements in Halifax, Ottawa, Belize, Guatemala, Ghana and Peru.
Service Learning has been running since 1996; about 25 per cent of St. FX students participate in Service Learning annually.
