Last evening at St.FX University, students and members of the public were treated to XTalks, which was keynoted by Humanitarian Roméo Dallaire. His

presentation and many books discuss the failure of humanity, and in particular, the failure of humanity in preventing the use of child soldiers during war and genocide.

Dallaire, a 2002 St. FX Honourary Degree  recipient wanted to let those in attendance last night know that they can be the source of change and activism. He thinks the younger generation can make great things happen in a time of great uncertainty:
Currently, Dallaire works with Dalhousie University on the issue of child soldiers, with the United Nations Secretary-General on genocide prevention. Dallaire also stands in support of fellow soldiers who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Nearly 800 business leaders, government officials and academics will make their way to Antigonish this weekend for a national conference. The Canadian Economics Association will be holding a conference and AGM this weekend at St.FX University, which translates into traffic for downtown businesses.
Jamie MacDonald is with the Antigonish Downtown Business Association. He says working side by side with host, St.FX will make this a great weekend for the town of Antigonish.
Conference goers will be in the town from Wednesday night until Sunday. MacDonald says that local businesses are excited for the high number of visitors

A former St.FX grad, X-Men offensive lineman coach and Antigonish native is being ‘robed in’ to the Provincial and Family Courts today.  Judge Sam Moreau has practiced law for 18 years, and was most recently a managing lawyer with Nova Scotia Legal Aid out of Port Hawkesbury.
Moreau graduated from St.FX with a BA, and was named volunteer coach of the year for the AUS in 2002. He has also done extensive work with child welfare.
