A few businesses from the surrounding area are nominees for a provincial award. 11 companies were nominated, but one will be named 2017 exporter of the year during an event in Halifax next Wednesday.
Locally, Tony’s Meats of Antigonish, Global Courseware Inc of New Glasgow and DSM Nutritional Products in Mulgrave. This year’s keynote speakers are Brian Allaway, president, and William Allaway, vice-president of operations, at Acadian Maple, a manufacturer and exporter of maple syrup products.
Donairs are synonymous in Atlantic Canada, but a local group is looking to expand their reach nationally. Antigonish company Tony’s Meats distributes the Mr. Donair Brand to stores across the country, but they’re hoping to reach newer markets.
As part of Canada’s 150th birthday, Mr. Donair will be doing a promotional tour across the country to help widen the brand. Aaron Tingley is the National Sales Manager for Tony’s Meats and Mr. Donair. Tingley is hoping that the unique taste of donair meat will be able to make a splash in other markets:
The promo tour will feature stops in most provinces, and will make appearances in music festivals across the country.
