A local from Antigonish County has received confirmation of her world record catch, nearly 10 months after reeling in a 400 pound tuna. Chandra Gavin of Ballantyne’s Cove caught a blue-fin tuna on September the 20th weighing 406 pounds – a world record.
Gavin says the catch took more than an hour to complete. However, she is already planning on catching a bigger fish in order to cushion her world record:
Gavin recently received the official certificate from the International Game Fish Association for the record, and now joins some elusive company within the family. Her daughter broke a world junior record in 2014 by catching a 616 pound tuna
