Tender for Guysborough District’s Compost Management Facility Closes this Week

Sep 19, 2019 | Local News

Warden Vernon Pitts says the tender for the recently announced compost management facility was issued the day of the announcement and that council will award it shortly after it closes this Friday.

Last month, it was announced residents and businesses in the municipality will benefit from two new organic material processing buildings, replacing the existing facility, and increasing the amount of organic materials being diverted from landfills to be processed for compost and soil.

Pitts said council would like to see work start immediately, and that there has already been some work done at the site, which the municipality has done themselves in order to hit the ground running.

He said they would like to see the building up and complete before the snow flies.

For the enhanced organic materials remediation facility in Guysborough the official breakdown is as follows; federal funding of $734,202; $611,858 in provincial funding and municipally there is a contribution of $499,596.
