The Moose Conservation Association of Nova Scotia Continues to Raise its Opposition to a Proposed Wind Farm Project in Antigonish County

Apr 1, 2026 | Local News

The Moose Conservation Association of Nova Scotia is keeping up their opposition to the proposed Eigg Mountain Wind Farm in Antigonish.

The project was registered for an Environmental Assessment in February. The deadline for submitting formal comment on the project was on Tuesday.

The Assocation has posted a short video on its Facebook social media page, underlining the potential impact of the project on the resident moose population. The Association says the video focuses on a specific resident it has come to know as Harvey, who has become the face of an urgent call to protect the project area. The association calls this effort Harvey’s Last Stand Campaign.

The video urges residents to write and call Environment Minister Tim Halman to express concerns about Harvey’s survival.

The association maintans that numerous proposed locations for the turbines are too close in proximity to wetlands and old growth forest stands utilized by moose, rather than a single one reported in the assessment.
