Three paramedics with local connections were amongst the 21 awarded the Emergency Medical
Services Exemplary Service Medal for their dedication to the health and safety of all Nova Scotians.
Rhonda Helpard, from Steep Creek, Angie Matheson, out of Port Hastings, and Matthew Vaughan, out of Westville, received the awards from Lt.-Gov. Arthur J. LeBlanc.
A release from the province stated all of the honoured paramedics dedicated their careers to providing high-quality care to Nova Scotians in their time of greatest need, sometimes at their own personal risk.
