A player with Antigonish County connections has been picked in the PWHL draft.
Avi Adam of Wolfville, who played her college hockey with Cornell, was selected 24th overall by the Montreal Victoire. To add to the excitement for Adam, the pick was announced by another Nova Scotian, head coach and New Glasgow native Kori Cheverie.
Adam is known as a strong two-way forward, leading Cornell with 29 points in 33 games and blocked 51 shots this season.

Antigonish native Jacob Hudson is taking his professional hockey career to Europe.
Hudson, a former member of the St. FX X-Men and the QMJHL’s Moncton Wildcats, has signed a deal with EC-KAC in the International Central European Hockey League (ICEHL) in Austria. Last season, Hudson had 23 goals and 26 assists with the ECHL’s Maine Mariners.

Another Antigonish native who will be suiting up for an ICEHL squad is Alex Grant. He has agreed to terms with Milano HC, who are joining the league on a one year trial period. Last year, Grant played with the Odense Bulldogs in Denmark, where he had 2 goals and 6 assists in 19 games.
Former St. FX X-Men Patty Kyte is a cup winner with the ECHL’s Florida Everblades. The Everblades, an affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, beat the Kansas City Mavericks 5-4 in double overtime to win the Kelly Cup final 4-2, their fifth league title. Kyte split his season between Florida, Greensboro and Wichita of the ECHL , notching 4 goals and 19 assists in the regular season and another 3 assists in the playoffs
