The Town of Antigonish adopted a snow and ice control policy during Tuesday’s regular meeting of council. Mayor Sean Cameron explained that last year, council expressed concerns with snow banks on sidewalks making it difficult for pedestrians and people getting out of their cars.

Cameron explained council rescinded a former policy and had to create a new one, which was modeled on policies from other municipalities. He said staff are doing the work and it gives them some flexibility. For instance, noted Cameron, Deputy Mayor Andrew Murray asked about clearing sidewalks as early as possible to accommodate pedestrians and shoppers during the holiday season.
