The Town of Antigonish announced the recipients of its 2026–2027 Community Grants program, with the town offering $185,250 in financial support to over 30 local groups and events.
In the arts culture and events side of things, the Antigonish Art Fair & Arts House got $20,500 to support Arts House operations and five art fairs ; Festival Antigonish will pick up $17,500 for seasonal programming and summer camps ; Antigonish Culture Alive received $5,500 for the 15th annual Antigonight : Art After Dark Festival ; St. Francis Xavier University Art Gallery got $4,000 for its 50th anniversary exhibition.
For Tourism and economic development , Antigonish Tourism Association picked up $15,000 to support Jazz Fest and digital marketing initiatives; Coastal Nova Scotia got $8,200 for regional tourism promotion and visitor services ; Antigonish Visitor Information Centre got $7,100 to host seasonal events and programming.
As for community health and social supports , the Antigonish Emergency Fuel Fund received $5,000 to assist residents with heating costs ; the Antigonish Affordable Housing Society picked up $4,400 for infrastructure and maintenance needs ; Naomi Society ($4,000) for outreach programming ; L’Arche ($5,000) for summer camp programming.
For recreation and inclusion , Antigonish Challenger Baseball received $3,000 for adaptive equipment and expanded programming ; CACL Antigonish ($8,000) for adaptive recreation supports ; Positive Action for the Keppoch Society ($10,000) to provide transportation and outings for older adults ; and the Pickleball Antigonish Society got $1,500 to improve court safety and accessibility.
For youth and education , the Antigonish Imagination Library got $7,200 to deliver free books to children ; Children’s Place Daycare got $11,000 to offset operational costs ; and the Antigonish Creative Dance Association picked up $4,000 for youth summer camps.
Funding initiatives celebrating diversity and fostering community connections include the Antigonish Malayali Association getting $500 for a multicultural event showcasing Kerala heritage ; and ACALA got $3,400 for community lecture series and inclusive learning opportunities.
Other groups getting funding included $5,000 for the Eastern Nova Scotia Exhibition for event operations and safety measures ; $3,500 for Strait Area Ground Search and Rescue for emergency response support ; $1,250 for Heritage Association of Antigonish ($1,250) for website improvements , and $3,000 to Nova Spiritus Society or creative public poetry installations.
