Town of Antigonish moving forward with Net Metering

A plan for renewable energy is moving forward at a good pace, according to town officials. in April, the Town of Antigonish approved a motion to move forward with net metering; a billing practice that enables consumers to generate electricity from renewable sources to offset their own electrical requirements.

Town CAO Jeff Lawrence says the town is now conducting a rate study to ensure the program will not negatively impact the utility or other rate payers:

While it will take time to fully implement net metering, Lawrence says it will go hand in hand with other renewable projects in the town, such as the wind farm, which moves into a new phase on July 29th.
