The Town of Antigonish offered an explanation as to a foul smell coming from the municipality’s sewage treatment plant recently.
The town’s Facebook pages stated there was a mechanical issue at the Town’s Sewage Treatment Plant at the east end of Main Street about two weeks ago. The page also states they replaced some equipment in the middle of last week and the plant resumed normal operation.

Antigonish CAO Jeff Lawrence explained the issue.
Lawrence said the they are hoping the odor will be eliminated in the next day or two.
