The Town of Antigonish voted to help cover the cost overruns for work at the Antigonish Arena.
The price for work done earlier this year on the condenser and chiller at the Antigonish Arena went over the previous price tag by over $55,000 dollars. The town voted to split the cost of the overrun with the Municipality of the County of Antigonish, as the two bodies own the arena.
Antigonish Town Mayor Laurie Boucher said she wasn’t surprised by the increase, noting the work has been on the books for about two years.
Accessibility features to the blue section of the stands, with a ramp and accessible seating, were added to the arena recently. Next on the agenda for upgrades is adding an extra dressing room, which will lead to more accessible features.
