During last night’s regular monthly meeting for Antigonish Town Council, members voted to accepted a hybrid voting system for the upcoming municipal election in the fall. The town is going with e-voting and paper ballots. The town used a similar system during the last municipal election, and Mayor Laurie Boucher said COVID-19 made it more important to offer voting options.
During the last election, said Boucher, e-voting was available for almost a week prior to the election and it did increase participation. It was the first time for e-voting, and Boucher said the feedback was good with equal amounts of e-voting and paper ballots.
