Officials with the Town of Pictou are advising area residents to avoid swimming in Pictou Harbour due to higher than normal bacteria levels. They say swimming could lead to illness.
Water tests at two beaches showed bacteria levels that are above the acceptable limit set by the Department of Environment and Climate Change. New samples will be taken this week for more testing.
The town will provide an update when the results of the new test come in.
